Learn how to set a cabochon stone in sterling silver.  During this course, you will learn correct stone setting techniques, and make a fabulous cabachon set sterling silver ring.  As well as refining your soldering skills, you will learn alternative joining techniques such as riveting, so you can include other interesting materials in your jewellery pieces such as timbers, perspex etc. Students will be encouraged to also use these new joining techniques to make an additional piece of jewellery.

Description

Learn how to set a cabochon stone in sterling silver.  During this course, you will learn correct stone setting techniques, and make a fabulous cabachon set sterling silver ring.  As well as refining your soldering skills, you will learn alternative joining techniques such as riveting, so you can include other interesting materials in your jewellery pieces such as timbers, perspex etc. Students will be encouraged to also use these new joining techniques to make an additional piece of jewellery.

This course is for students who have completed our Beginner level jewellery course or equivalent. This is one of the most rewarding and versatile stone setting techniques and is the first in our series of stone setting workshops.

A semi-precious stone and sterling silver for one ring are provided. As well as silver for 1 other additional piece.

Use of all the tools, machinery and soldering equipment and consumables, and all metals are included.

Extra sterling silver and semi-precious stones can be purchased during, or at the completion of the course.

Continuing students are also encouraged to enrol in this class and work on self-directed projects.
